I've notice that a ton of people have been searching for the phrase "I used to think a wedding was a simple affair." This phrase is part of a quote from the Movie "Father of the Bride". You can read the entire quote below:
“I used to think a wedding was a simple affair. A boy and girl meet, they fall in love, he buys a ring, she buys a dress, they say ‘I do.’ I was wrong. That’s getting married. A wedding is an entirely different proposition.”
— George Banks (in “Father of the Bride”)
George Banks is basically saying that a wedding is not the same as "getting married". Getting married is the
simple affair, but the wedding is definitely not simple. It involves planning, invitations, and so much more. The expenses of a wedding include the rings, cake, food, invitations, tuxedos, the photographer (and videos if you go that far), entertainment, gifts (most weddings give out little gifts), transportation to and from the wedding, and most expensive, the reception itself.
